Grade 7
Kendra Mason- Starting a new school is bad enough. It's even worse when you're the younger sister of the school bully. But Kendra won't let that get her down. Kendra is a strong independent girl -- definitely a tomboy -- and when she knows what she wants, she goes for it.

Nadia- i dont know too much about her yet... she hasn't made any big appearances. all i no for now is that she's a good student and likes science.

Grade 8
Sean Cameron- 7th grade was a rough year for Sean - moving in with his older brother, repeating the seventh grade -- but it was also the year he met Emma. Now "Emma and Sean -- the couple" is a thing of the past, and while he isn't over her, maybe he can find a future with one of the other girls at Degrassi? The pressure of life can still be too much for Sean, but he's learning how to deal with his anger. He has a new friend in 9th grade -- the new kid, Craig. Hopefully this year will be better for Sean.

Emma Nelson- Growing up an only child of a teen mom, Emma has learned how to stand up for what she believes in. She's an independent spirit and is passionate about the environment and animal rights. Her outspokenness gets her into trouble, and so does her black-and-white view on what is right and wrong. She'll get a shock when her mom starts dating a her Computer Immersion teacher, Mr. Simpson.

Toby Isaacs- Toby's sharp wit and slight deviousness can sometimes get him in trouble, but he's definitely come into his own since last year when he and his Dad moved in with Ashley and her mom. After pining over Emma all year and becoming best friends with JT, he's ready to take on the world, show them he's not just a computer geek and maybe even get a girlfriend!

Manny Santos- The smiley sidekick to Emma, Manny's really grown over the summer, but doesn't stop her from getting involved where she shouldn't and sometimes spilling secrets. While her parents are very strict, Manny always finds a way to go to the dance or on a date? Finally, after all the gossiping and giggling over boys, Manny may discover the truth about romance -- that it is not easy.

JT Yorke- JT: class clown and con man. His sense of humor and practical jokes can sometimes get him into big trouble, but he doesn't let it bother him. He'd much rather joke around than do homework anyway, especially in his quest to become a total ladies man! JT is the kind of guy who's always testing the limits, running scams and avoiding disasters. He may be a slob, but at least he's a charming one! But JT will soon find that sometimes, you just can't mask your pain w/ laughter... and at home, there's pain.

Liberty Van Zandt- Liberty is driven -- she's been waiting to take Ashley's place as the perfect 8th grader. She wants to be the best and won't accept anything short of total perfection. No wonder she's editor of the school paper, on all the school committees, and even the Junior Student Council President! It's not that she's worried about fitting in, but sometimes she just wishes that people liked her.

Grade 9
Ashley Kerwin- The "perfect" student may have a few flaws. Last year, Ashley seemed perfect -- she had the looks, the grades, and the guy. Last year was a total success being Student Council President, being part of the most popular clique in school, and even dealing with her divroeced parents and new step family. Things change though, and after some out of character behavior, Jimmy's gone and so are her friends. It's taken a summer of therapy to realize who she is, and that girl isn't picture perfect anymore.

Jimmy Brooks- Jimmy has it all: he's popular, good looking and a great basketball player. Even though his parents are never around when he needs them, he always has his friends to turn to. Jimmy always looks out for his best friend, Spinner, and his loyalty earns him the respect of the school. After a very public break-up with Ashley at the end of 8th grade, he was feeling very low, but is now ready to find a new girlfriend -- even if sometimes it feels like Ash is the only girl for him.

Terri McGreggor- Beautiful and caring, Terri likes sticking by her friends, but that may prove hard to do this year in 9th grade. Terri's low self-esteem about her weight could hold her back from doing all the things she's capable of, but she finds true friends in Paige and Spinner. Her friendship with Ashley is shaky after last year, and she is forced to choose whether she wants to be popular, or if she wants stay friends with an "outcast."

Paige Michalchuk- Paige has built herself an empire at school, and her life is as carefully put together as her image -- her popularity and biting tongue is feared and respected throughout the school. She can be judgmental and mean, but she can also be a true friend and very loyal. She doesn't like to see the people she cares about get hurt. Paige is determined to be a success in every way possible, but she could learn some tough lessons along the way.

Gavin "Spinner" Mason- Degrassi's cute and lovable bully, Spinner always likes to have fun and joke around. He's loyal to his best friend, Jimmy, and has found new success on the soccer field in 9th grade. This year he also has to watch over his seventh grade sister, Kendra, who's new to Degrassi Community School.

Ellie Nash- Ellie is brilliant and brutally honest to the world, which doesn't make her friends easily. Her alternative perspective -- and lifestyle -- makes her a force to be reckoned with at school, and her punk looks attract boys. But underneath the make-up, she is a lonely girl. More than anything, she wants a true friend, someone like her.

Craig Manning- Craig's the new kid, but does not seem to have any trouble fitting in. Good-looking, charming and genuine, he can sweet-talk his way out of almost any situation. He loves photography and is always taking pictures, which seems to be a girl magnet. As a result, he has his choice of the girls! But his chatty and charming exterior hides a darker side. Home life has hit an all time low, and Craig just hopes he can hide it all from his new friends.

Marco Del Rossi- High school's here and Marco is making quite an impression. He's an awesome dancer; he's charming, sensitive and a really good listener. Girls think he's the perfect boyfriend and Marco's not complaining that most of the girl's at Degrassi are in love with him -- it makes him a big stud. But why is being a stud so important to him? He's hiding a secret, and it's only a matter of time before he has to accept who he really is.

Hazel Aden- Hazel enjoys a position as one of Degrassi's social elite. As Paige's new best friend, and the new singer for Paige Michalchuk and the Sex Kittens, she can have any guy she wants, and has the respect of everyone in her class. Of course, it helps that everyone thinks she's Jamaican and doesn't know the truth. But she'll have to set them right sooner or later, even if it means telling her best friend that she's not the hip, wealthy girl she pretends to be...
